Catholic parish life is divided into four main categories, each lead by a commission. These categories are Christian Service, Formation, Stewardship, and Worship. There are many opportunities to serve in each of these four areas. St. John Neumann also has opportunities to serve in the area of Communications and Youth Ministry. Christian Service ELIZABETH MINISTRY - A support for women during the childbearing years. Mentoring, education, and peer support are available.
FUNERAL LUNCH COMMITTEE - Provide and serve a lunch for the family after a funeral.
GARDEN COMMITTEE - Plant and maintain the flower gardens and grounds of our church.
GRANDPARENTING - Group of "acting" grandparents for children at shelters. That occurs on a flexible schedule of mornings during the week.
HEALTH MINISTRY - Coordinates blood drive campaigns, offers health information, provides referral, direction and health counseling.
HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE - Provides refreshments for events at the parish.
PEACE AND JUSTICE - Raises the level of awareness of Catholic Social Teaching on peace and justice. We meet the third Thursday of each month from 7:30 PM to 9 PM.
RESPITE CARE - Provide much needed "spiritual renewal" for caregivers of the homebound.
SJN MOMS - Mothers who come together to strengthen faith, find support and friendship, and to share experiences.
Daytime meetings - 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of month from 10-11:30 AM
Primetime meetings - 3rd Thursday of month from 7:30-9 PM
ST. LEO SOUP KITCHEN - Help serve meals at St. Leo’s on the third Wednesday of the month.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL DRIVES - Donate clothing the first weekend of every month.
SOUP & BREAD SUPPERS - During the Lenten season we provide soup and bread suppers followed by a prayer service each Friday at 6 PM.

Formation CATECHISTS - People who teach and share their faith with children. Lesson plans are done by lead catechists and distributed to each catechist at the beginning of classes.
CATECHIST ASSISTANTS - Assistants to the catechists during religious formation classes.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY FACILITATORS - Volunteers who assist coordinating the seperate children’s liturgy at 9:00 & 11:00 AM on Sunday.
CHILDREN’S SACRAMENTAL FACILITATORS - Adults and teens that facilitate sacramental preparation sessions for first Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
FORMATION COMMISSION - We meet four times a year to nurture faith formation for all age groups in the parish.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION COUPLES - Married couples who meet with engaged couples in their homes.

Stewardship
BUDGET COMMITTEE - Committee to oversee finances of parish.
BUILDING MAINTENANCE - Upkeep of building and grounds.
STEWARDSHIP COMMISSION - is comprised of members of the parish interested in all matters involved with planning and providing for the financial affairs and physical properties of the parish. The programs and activities shall include but not be limited to finance, maintenance, and budget preparation.

Worship
ART & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE - Plans and decorates for the liturgical seasons of the church year.
BAPTISM GARMENT MAKERS - A group of parishioners who sew garments for infant and adult baptisms.
CANTORS - A group of parishioners who enjoy leading our assembly in song when the other groups are not present.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS - Distribute the Eucharist under the forms of bread and wine at the weekend liturgies. Commitment is for 2 years. Sign-up happens in once a year.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS to the HOMEBOUND - Parishioners who regularly bring the Eucharist to the homebound.
INSTRUMENTALISTS - We provide a variety of musical expression at weekend liturgies.
LECTORS - Proclaim the scripture at all the weekend liturgies.
MASS HELPERS - A group of girls and boys who assist the priest at the weekend liturgies. Grades 5 through 8.
MEDIA MINISTRY - Use the computer to project songs and prayers during the liturgy.
PRAISE CHOIR - Parishioners that play a variety of instruments and several voices for a "non-traditional" approach to music during liturgies.
SACRISTANS - Prepare bread and wine for the liturgy, care for vestments.
SJN CHORALE - We sing four-part music, similar to other "traditional" choirs. Music consists of a wide variety of styles.
SJN PLAYERS - Enact the scripture at special liturgies- meet as needed.
USHERS - Greet, seat, direct and collect - meet annually.
WEDDING REHEARSAL TEAM - Conduct the wedding rehearsal for engaged couples.
WORSHIP COMMISSION - Parish representatives and ministry coordinators who meet bi-monthly to assess parish worship experience.

Communications
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE - Group of parishioners who have prior experience in some form of marketing or communications field. The group helps create an ongoing marketing strategy for the parish.
PHOTOGRAPHY COMMITTEE - Group of parishioners interested in photography who take photos of parish people and events.
NEW PARISHIONER WELCOMING COMMITTEE- Parishioners who develop and implement welcoming procedures for the new members of St. John Neumann.
